Workflow before tools
Understand the problem, ownership and exceptions before selecting technology.
About Precision Workflows
Information lives in too many places. Good people lose hours copying, chasing and retyping instead of serving customers. Precision Workflows (Pty) Ltd is the business systems consultancy Jacques Wainwright founded to fix that by understanding how work actually flows before recommending any technology.

The founder
Jacques has worked in and around operations since 1998, on the technical side first and in management by his early twenties. By his mid-twenties he was running a regional branch on his own, serving banks and hospital groups across two provinces.
From 2004 to 2015 he was at Lesotho Milling Company, a manufacturer. For the last seven of those years he held two jobs at once: IT Manager and Operations Manager. That meant production schedules, inbound raw material, distribution and fleet, packaging stock and quality monitoring, purchase orders above R100,000 and chairing disciplinary hearings, while also owning the ERP and the IT the whole plant depended on. The two jobs were never separate. A production decision was an information decision, and the reverse.
He spent those years working closely with the managing director, who would not discuss a result until he had seen the process that produced it. That is where the habit came from: describe the work before you argue about the outcome. It is also where he learned how a single operational decision moves production, finance, quality, procurement and the customer at the same time.
He then spent nearly three years managing service delivery for a UK managed IT provider, working from its Cape Town base with clients in London. The work was change management, quality control and the escalation process itself, delivered to businesses he was never in the room with.
In 2020 he founded Sunlec Energy Solutions (Pty) Ltd, an energy systems consultancy he still runs. Sunlec reinforced the lesson that shapes Precision Workflows: technology alone doesn’t solve business problems. The underlying processes, decisions and customer experience matter as much as the equipment.
The habit does not switch off after hours. He notices where a service is quietly failing and where it works better than it has any right to, and the question is always the one nobody in the room has asked yet.
That is why every engagement starts with the operating reality: what information arrives, who touches it, where it waits, which exceptions matter and who carries the risk when something goes wrong. Sometimes the best recommendation is “don’t automate this.”
Clients deal directly with Jacques through the Assessment, decision review and any implementation that follows.
Our philosophy
The goal is not to replace people. It is to remove the repetitive administration that prevents capable people from doing the work they are best at.
Operating principles
Understand the problem, ownership and exceptions before selecting technology.
A workflow can be financially efficient and still be unpleasant to use. We consider both the commercial result and the experience of the people performing the work.
People handle consequential decisions, relationships and exceptions; technology handles repetition.
Not every problem needs automation. Clear reasons to defer or stop are valuable conclusions.
Why Precision Workflows
The business problem leads. Workflow understanding, system design and technology selection follow. AI is one possible part of the prescription, not the product being pushed.
This creates a calmer, more responsible path from operational friction to a working system.
Two questions we are asked
No. We are a business systems consultancy.
AI is one of three things we might recommend, and it is the last one we reach for. The other two are changing the process and writing a rule.
Then that is what the report says, and it is a complete answer.
The bottleneck is often somewhere other than where it hurts. Telling you to spend money on the wrong thing is worse than telling you to spend none.
